Janina’s telling is untamed, messy, wild, lives on the edge of what adults consider is suitable for children (which strangely enough is where you’ll find most kids hanging out). East european folk and wondertales are a staple of hers. Sit with her long enough and you’ll hear of hat-wearing chickens, turnip-whispering old men, trolls, foxes and surprisingly strong grandmothers. It’s silly, loud and quite ridiculous, abundant, joyful and infectious. She tells stories with children not to them, which is why she’s a regular storyteller at Glastonbury, has told extensively at Cambridge Folk Festival, has toured as the UK as Beatrix Potter for Penguin Random House, run birthday parties, performed at corporate events and has been a professional silly sausage for nearly 20 years. Janina is also the founder of Wonder Monger, a new storytelling night for adults at Cambridge Junction.
