Alan is an active member of The Reformed Druids of Gaia, and works to explore aspects of the re-created Bardic-Druidic Tradition. In performance terms this is story-telling, poetic divination and engaging in playful acts of enchantment
We believe that Trickery as we know it today, was once part of clerical practice; used by Shaman, Wise One’s and Holy Personages as a way to teach as well as heal others. Our objective is to restore this understanding of Magick so that it might grow by restoring tradition and so encouraging faith and purpose in ourselves and those for whom we present our musings.
A specific agenda could be stated as a desire to restore an understanding of Magick so that it might grow by restoring tradition and so encouraging faith and purpose in ourselves and those for whom we present our musings.
This may sound a little grandiose, but stories have the power to engage, magick has the power to inspire, mythic journeys have the power to transform. The Urban Shaman explores theatrical performance, techniques of perceptual illusion and the crafting of meaningful experiences.
Myth Making and Story Telling can be considered as key aspects of spiritual, therapeutic and healing journeys. As a Transpersonal Therapist Alan integrates work with archetypes, stories of 'the quest' and performance in order to present themes, topics and totems for transformation.
