Crick Crack Club celebrate the 200th anniversary of the Grimms Brothers Household and Children's Tales
Two hundred years ago, in 1812 the Brothers Grimm, Jacob and Wilhem, published Household and Children’s Tales, a collection of stories that have shaped the imagery of European art, narrative and collective dreaming for the last 200 years.
To celebrate this anniversary the pioneering storytelling club, the Crick Crack Club, founded in 1988, are presenting a series of contemporary storytelling events for children and family audiences at the Unicorn Theatre, London, themed on the Grimms’ stories. The series also features the UK premiere of the revival of The Company of Storytellers acclaimed adult work, The Three Snake Leaves, featuring Hugh Lupton, Ben Haggarty and Sally Pomme Clayton.
The series also features Peter Chand, drawing parallels between South Asian stories and the world conjured by the Grimms, Ben Haggarthy’s Grim Grimms: Three Drops of Blood, exploring the darker side of the Grimms story experience and Sally Pomme Clayton’s performance for younger listeners, A Year In The Forest.
Performances run from 4th – 26th Feb.
